Is it really free?
Yes. DNS Dingo has no paid plans. Every feature listed above is available to everyone at no cost, and there is nothing to buy anywhere on this site.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to run a lookup. Signing in with Google is optional and only exists so your lookup history and saved domains follow you between devices.
Which resolvers does the propagation check ask?
17 public DNS resolvers run by 17 different operators: Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, Cisco OpenDNS, Lumen (Level 3), Hurricane Electric, AdGuard, Control D, Vercara UltraDNS, DNS.SB, CIRA Canadian Shield, NextDNS, AliDNS, DNSPod, Yandex (Moscow), KT (Seoul) and Freifunk München (Central Europe). Our server in Northern Virginia, USA asks them; the anycast ones answer from their site nearest to it.
Why is there still a daily limit?
Each propagation check sends 17 DNS queries from our server, so it is capped at 500 checks a day per IP address (and 20 a minute) to keep it free and to stop it being used to flood resolvers. If you need more, get in touch and tell us what you are building.
What happens when I reach the limit?
Propagation checks pause until the count resets at midnight UTC. The record listing still works, because it runs in your browser. Nothing is charged and nothing is locked permanently.
Can DNS Dingo alert me when a record changes?
Not yet. You can save domains in the free dashboard and re-check them in one click. For an email when a website stops responding, create a free Status Tiger account (statustiger.com, a sister product); it watches whether the site answers, not individual DNS records.
I used to see Pro and Business plans. What happened?
They were retired in September 2026 and everything they included is now part of the free tier. Nobody was ever charged for DNS Dingo, so there was nothing to refund or cancel.
